The experiences at Ponderosa, Hume Lake’s flagship summer camp, is one that blows mediocrity out of the water! The combination of time with friends, fun activities, and experiences with God made the summers fun and exciting for thousands of students. Hume Lake is a Christian Camp dedicated to sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ in a fresh and new way. Magnificently situated in the serene Sequoia National Forest, Hume is one of the most beautiful places in California.

Hume Lake offers a wide variety of activities that make the week fast-paced and exciting. Recreation time is high-energy and competitive, and students go all out in participating in the extreme and oftentimes unusual games. During free time, campers enjoy swimming in the pool, boating in the lake, skating in the skate park, and making full use of the paint ball field and the high adventure course. Even though Hume provides an extensive list of activities, it is also an ideal place to relax. The tranquil atmosphere provides an escape from the fast paced, hustle and bustle of home. Campers seeking relaxation can find it hiking in the forest, buying coffee at Hume’N Beans, or hanging -out with friends. Hume Lake is undeniably one of the most fun places to retreat, it is best known for their commitment to introducing students to Christ. Between the entertaining chapels, incredible speakers, amazing worship, and personal reflection time, it is inevitable that students will experience God. Hume Lake is known for their exciting and creative themes, and their well-prepared dramas. In fact, tourists in the area and locals go out of their way to view the opener for the week’s drama. Themes range from extremely dramatic to humorous and comedic.

            As a summer camp, the Hume Lake experience receives a perfect 10, and as a setting for astounding encounters with God, its ratings are off the charts! No student should go through high school not having spent a week at Hume, it is guaranteed to be a week spent without regrets.
