Castle Farewell
The music fades
The songs are sung
Silence in the glades
The day is done
And the sun sets
On the Castle grand
As patient Time
Lays down its hand
To spread the first
Of ages’ dust
Still years before
The tarnish or rust
Come to this place
Where they once did play
And learn and love
And live each day
Where once fair bards
Great songs did sing
Now only a whisper
Does the faint wind bring
A whisper of laughter
Lingering on the air
Of wit, mirth and joy
Now frolicking elsewhere
Elsewhere, elsewhere
It all blows by
And one’s left to wonder
Why…oh why?
‘Cause such as they
Were meant for more
Plans for these
God had in store
Plans to become
What only He knows
His dreamers, champions
Even heroes?
And they’ll be back
At least in word
News of their deeds
Shall doubtless be heard
And so we talk
Of futures and of fates
And the Castle sits empty
Still…and waits.
Farewell…and fly true.
