The boy’s varsity volleyball team has worked hard this season. All the hard work they have put in the season to pull off the success in league had really shown.
On the weekend of April 21-23 the Chico Tournament took place at Chico High School where the boys of Valley Christian were seeded high. This was a successful tournament for the team as they pulled out in 5th place of 24 teams. They beat Jesuit, Santa Rosa, and Union Nevada. They lost to Foothill High School of Pleasanton. This weekend the boys stayed at the Holiday Inn and got a good chance to bond and play a few harmless but humorous pranks on each other.
Thursday April 27, the team played Serra High School and unfortunately fell short, losing in three games. This was unfortunate for the team especially since senior Jermey Georges had a knee injury. The kill leader for this game was Andrew Caine.
On Tuesday May 2, the boys of St. Francis came to the Warrior home to face off with Valley Christian. This game was much anticipated since their last win. This game began the first round of WCAL playoffs. The third game of this match set a CCS record for the longest game ever played with a score of 40-38. Valley Christian won this game and celebrated in Jeremy’s return from injury.
The Valley Christian Warriors headed off to Bellarmine on Wednesday May 3 to kick off the WCAL Semi-Finals. The boys fought through a tough game but unfortunately fell short. This loss eliminated the Warriors from the WCAL Playoffs. The kill leader for this game was Jeremy Georges.
Their last home game was on April 25 against St. Ignatius. This was the senior’s last game and was a very bittersweet moment for them as well. The college choices for the seniors were announced and Westfield gift certificates were given out. The seniors of this team are JJ Kulusich., Jeremy Georges, David Flack, and David Zvolanek. JJ will be attending SDSU, Jeremy; UC San Diego, David Flack; Mission College, and David Z; Sonoma. The boys had a bitter sweet ending making it to the first round CCS but lost to San Lorenzo.
