HOMECOMING!
Sprinkles of rain overshadowed by day's festivities

In keeping with Valley Christian’s Homecoming tradition, the game on Saturday, October 23 was a huge success, regardless of the weatherman’s forecast.

By the end of the JV football game, the time had come for each class to show their school spirit. First order of business: class floats. The freshmen took Valley “Down Under,” displaying a Warrior kangaroo battling a St. Ignatius Wildcat kangaroo. The sophomores went “Under Construction” with their neatly arranged mess of plywood and caution tape created by the “carpenters.” With the most inventive creation, the juniors went “Under Cover” to win first place in the float competition with scenes ranging from Alias to 006 to even Inspector Gadget. The mermaids, crabs, and sea urchins of the senior class came in close second, with their aquatic “Under the Sea” float. continued in news...

VCHS Awarded National Honor
U.S. Department of Education recognizes nation’s finest

Valley Christian High School truly does stand alone when compared to all other private high schools in California. Valley was the only private high school to receive the “No Child Left Behind” Blue Ribbon School National Honor this year. Only thirty-five other high schools in the entire nation have ever received this award. To even be considered for this honor, academic achievements must be in the top ten percent in the United States, which is calculated by the annual SATs. continued in news...

Program Now Among Nation's Best!
Top-of-the-line equipment adds to program’s success

As highlighted in last month’s paper, Valley Christian’s own radio station, KVCH, has had a sudden boom in technology with the addition of four new Apple G5s accompanied by four Pro-tools boards, the leading standard in today’s audio media world. This year promises to be a good one, with enough equipment for everyone to be working on different projects at the same time.

The Advanced Radio class’ first projects are current events or personal interest stories. One project covered students’ opinions about the election. The radio students conducted interviews, to see how much students knew about the election and to hear student perspectives on the issues. “Who is running and who is their running mate?” “If you could vote for one of the candidates. who would you vote for and why?” The final product is a fantastic short commercial on voting and the final steps of the election. continued in news...
