Playing Court
By Breanna Flippo
Have you ever wondered what
it would be like to be a lawyer for just a few months? Well this
is what the Mock Trial team will be doing this year. Approximately
40 students were given the state case for last year’s Mock
Trial team and were expected to read, analyze, and come up with
a two-minute closing statement to present on September 21. The
students were evaluated based on their ability to comprehend the
main points of the case, and how confident they were in presenting
their case. The judges of the tryouts were the attorneys and coaches
of the team, Ms. Jennifer Griffin, Lori Stuart, and Jose Franco.
Lori and Hosea are both public defenders for Santa Clara County
and have volunteered their services in order to help the team.
The program is supported by the Constitutional Rights Foundation,
and this is Valley Christian’s second year in the program.
