Program Now Among Nation's
Best
Top-of-the-line equipment adds to program’s
success

As highlighted in last month’s
paper, Valley Christian’s own radio station, KVCH, has had
a sudden boom in technology with the addition of four new Apple
G5s accompanied by four Pro-tools boards, the leading standard
in today’s audio media world. This year promises to be a
good one, with enough equipment for everyone to be working on
different projects at the same time.
The Advanced Radio class’ first projects are current events
or personal interest stories. One project covered students’
opinions about the election. The radio students conducted interviews,
to see how much students knew about the election and to hear student
perspectives on the issues. “Who is running and who is their
running mate?” “If you could vote for one of the candidates.
who would you vote for and why?” The final product is a
fantastic short commercial on voting and the final steps of the
election.
Another ongoing project is the dress code, with interviews with
students and administrators. It lays out “what” and
“why” of the VC dress code. Other stories are the
block schedule, why football is the best sport, why baseball is
the best sport, and a calendar of upcoming events. While the Radio
2 students are working on their projects, the Radio 3 and 4 students
are requesting CDs from record labels, and running the station.
With plans to put most sporting events on the air, and as many
Friday lunch shows as they can fit, many of the dreams of the
3rd and 4th year students are becoming a reality. You can always
log on and listen live, or listen to chapels and other events
in the archives anytime at www.kvch.valleychristian.net.
