Letter From The Editors
by Alisa Walsh & Taryn Gifford

Newsflash: It’s starting to get a little chilly. Of course, that could be because it’s November and it usually tends to get colder as fall starts to meet winter, but that is beside the point. And we, as your editors, like to think of the cold months as snuggle weather. The present weather conditions are a good excuse to grab that special someone and cuddle up on the couch with a blanket next to a roaring fireplace. So now, with that said, we urge you to get in the spirit of winter and the holidays and participate with your friends (and snuggle buddies) in a number of winter-ish activities.

For instance, go ice- skating in downtown San Jose. Wear huge jackets and mittens or knit yourself a scarf. Make sugar cookies and gingerbread houses, and don’t feel guilty about the extra pounds you might put on if you eat that second piece of pumpkin pie (animals hibernate during the winter, so you should too; there’s always the spring, which is time to get ready for swimsuit season). The point of all this is to have fun whatever time of the year it is and take the opportunity to ask so and so on a romantic winter wonderland date, or over to watch movies and stay home. With this in mind, we are providing you with a little recipe for winter happiness, perfect for those nights when there’s a rain storm outside and you need to warm up inside and out:

Pour the milk in a saucepan and stir in chocolate syrup to your liking. Toss in the peppermint candies and heat hot chocolate, stirring occasionally, until almost to a boil. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate…
*2 cups milk
*Chocolate syrup (however much you like)
*3 or 4 peppermint disk candies
*Whipped cream
*Red Sprinkles
