With the league season having
just begun and a few more games behind them, the JV Football team
is preparing for some tough competition over the next few weeks.
After a huge win over McClymonds on September 25 with a score
of 42-6, the outcome of the Salinas game just a week later was
nothing short of unexpected. After a rough first half, the boys
were able to step it up in the second half and bring the final
score up to 7-9. Despite the team’s disappointment, Coach
Jerry Hitchman was able to keep up the their spirits.
Mitty proved to be another tough opponent on October 9, holding
the Warriors to a score of 14-21. For the next game on October
16, Valley traveled to Riordan with the hopes that they would
be able to step it up. With touchdowns made by Troy Pearson, Ben
Moreno, and Justin McPherson, the Warriors came out a mere two
points short, with a final score of 23-25. The disappointment
was evident, but the determination to try even harder couldn’t
be ignored.
At the homecoming game against Saint Ignatius on October 23, the
boys came out prepared to give it all they had. Fighting until
the very end, they came up just short once again with a final
score of 14-17. Despite the results of the past few games, the
boys know that the season is far from over, and their willingness
to step it up over the next few weeks will determine their success.
They head into the next game with a record of 3-4 (0-3).
