Valley Christian high school students showed more love to each other during the week of October 23-27 than usual because it was Kindness Week. This week allowed everyone to show random acts of kindness toward each other such as opening a door for someone else or carrying someone’s books. The eventful week was led by Leadership students and their adviser, Mr. Nathan Smith. The theme of the week was about being S.O.L.I.D. It stood for Showing Others Love In Deeds. Students showed their love for each other as they did good deeds for one another during the whole week with different events. On Monday it was cookie day, where Leadership students showed their love by passing out a pack of cookies, which the student body truly enjoyed. On Tuesday, stickers were passed out with encouraging words written on them to show each other what they thought of one another.

“The stickers made me feel uplifted, and they brightened my day,” said Sophomore Christine Byrne as she was covered in stickers of encouraging words. Wednesday, it was teacher appreciation day where students showed their teachers their appreciation for them and all their hard work. The teachers also showed their love to students as they allowed students to spend Wednesday comfortably in sweats. Thursday was be S.O.L.I.D. as gift certificates from Starbucks and Jamba Juice were handed out for random acts of kindness. The anonymous people were chosen by Leadership students to hand out gift certificates for a reward of showing kindness. Friday was hugs and kisses day as S.O.L.I.D. grams were handed out. The grams were a little pack of chocolate candies (hugs and kisses), and were handed out on Friday during the last period. The grams were sold on Monday through Wednesday for 50 cents for students and 25 cents for teachers.

The week of kindness was well coordinated for unity and it truly showed the kindness of Valley Christian.
