The Bible, Played Out
by Ashley Nguyen and Joyce Yoo

This year, the Valley Christian High School’s leadership program has transformed since last year. Having two classes, they are still doing many of the same events from last year such as the Father Daughter Dance, helping out at sports events, Kindness Week, and being general leaders at school. Under the guidance of new Leadership teacher, Mr. Nathan Smith, a new element has been added to the course. Trained in Leadership and having taken classes on Bible and outreach, Smith was a member of his ASB and student council in high school. He wants outreach to be the main focus for the second semester. Instead of focusing on serving at school, they have shifted their focus to do more in the community. Second semester, the students will get into groups of three, facilitating, organizing, and recruiting people to any charitable organization of their choice.

The overall theme for the Leadership class is “The Bible, played out,” as said by Christine Hanks. In conclusion, the new and improved Leadership class’s focus is on how they can better the community through their deeds and outreach.
