Thursdays at lunch, students gather in room 218 in fellowship for Christian Club. It is a place where over 100 different students attend from all grades and come for discussion and devotion. The students enjoy being around strong Christians. Since it is an optional event, walking through the door, one should expect passionate people who really want to be there.
Each week in Christian Club, a different speaker addresses the students with a message. Every week rotates from student speakers to a guest speaker from a church. The first week the speaker was Cathedral of Faith’s Chris Avila. The following weeks included student Nick Gutierrez, Iranian Christian Church’s Keivan Tehrani, and J.T. Bikul from the Home Church. The process of getting a speaker is really through communication between Bible teachers Ms. Pipkin and Mrs. Nardi. These women meet with youth leaders and youth pastors of the Bay Area and exchange contacts with each other. “We are all trying to unite the whole Bay Area,” said Ms. Pipkin. The student speakers are mainly from the Christian Club committee. A person who is interested should talk to Ms. Pipkin, be strong believers and attend Christian Club.
Students find Christian Club very exciting. It’s an extra boost for teens during what seems like a stressful, endless week. They agree that it is more personal and responsive devotional aside from chapel. It is a place where discussion, prayer, and fellowship come in to play. Discussions range from opinions of current issues to chapel speakers. It is encouraged that anyone who can come to these meetings certainly should. Come check it out!
