Scholarships are rolling in this year. Some of our fine seniors have the privilege of being chosen by top-notch colleges in the nation. Their hard work and talent shined through their performances and resulted in life-changing offers. Chana’e Jones has been offered a full scholarship to Oklahoma University for her talent in softball. All her years of hard work and dedication paid off because now she has the satisfaction of knowing her future college. Carissa Perales is going to attend Ohio State with a two-year scholarship for softball after scouts witnessed her amazing skills. Kevin Miller was presented with a full ride scholarship to UC Berkeley for impeccable achievements in baseball.
Although academic and athletic scholarships are the most common, there are other forms of opportunities. Erin Parker received a scholarship for $3,000 after applying to an scholarship organization called 100 Black Men. This scholarship is based on her achievements throughout high school. Erin applied in June and underwent a set of interviews and was chosen amongst many other outstanding students.
The immense dedication of these seniors serves as an example for the underclassmen. All of the students’ scholarships will be presented at the award ceremony toward the end of the year.
