Sterling Students Speak Shakespeare Sonnets
by Aaron Grayson

The classic tale of two star-crossed lovers finally made its way to the Valley Christian High School Theatre. The production was a complete success with the lead characters Romeo and Juliet played by the enthusiastic and highly talented senior David Clift and sophomore Janelle Kester. For those who are not entirely familiar with the story, Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy of two individuals from opposing royal families, the English Montagues and the Scottish Capulets (according to Mr. Matt DeMeritt’s production), who fall in love, but are torn apart by constant bickering and by altercations that occur between characters. Ultimately, the two lovers take their own lives when they realize they cannot be together.

The feisty Lord Capulet, played by senior Adam Walls, brought an especially refreshing and invigorating individuality to the character. The production was filled with action, romance, and intensity that kept the audience entertained and captivated for the entire duration of the play. Senior Anna Iuppa stated, “Everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet, but this take on the play was so refreshing, and it made me cry ‘cause it was so good!” Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for delivering such an impressive and thrilling masterpiece to the Valley Christian community.
