"The Best Sadies
Yet!"
By Heather Heise & Amanda Barrera
September 18 was the 16th
Annual Sadie Hawkins dance and a fantastic way to kick off the
year. Everything from the games, costumes and food resembled Halloween
in September. Senior London Hine said, “This was the best
Sadies yet!” The music satisfied everyone’s taste;
from country to pop, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Many students also enjoyed the Astro-Jump and the carnival games,
which consisted of a ring toss and a beanbag throw.
The best part was viewing everyone’s costumes. Costumes
varied from cowboys Alex Bear and Jake Viramontez to indians Haley
Yoder and Joey Styker. Super Man and Super Woman, Jeremy Georges
and Ashley Ferrante, were also present, along with G.I Joe and
Jane, Amanda Barrera and her date. Heather Heise and boyfriend
paired up with Chantelle Soutas and Jeff Rogers and sported LaCoste
along with many other students.
The most popular costumes were Kyle Bergland and Laura Tomford
as Pirates of the Caribbean along with juniors Laurie Stribling
and Austin Keeling as Hill Billies. Jordan Issa and Marc Wright
were also very popular with the crowd, as Jordan dressed up as
Peter Pan while Marc frolicked around in his Tinkerbell costume.
Food and drinks were prevalent to accompany the hunger and thirst
of those who danced the night away. Freshmen Maria Chavez stated,
“The hot chocolate was really good and warmed me up throughout
the night.” Although many students enjoyed the astro jump
and games, the highlight of the night was, by far, the dancing
and company of friends. Monica Jackson (’08) commented,
“My favorite part of the night was dancing and being stupid
with my friends.” Senior Aaron Hill agreed, saying “Sadies
was rad, especially dancing with my main men Robby Valderrama
and Grant Yoshino…oh wait, I mean Sogol, my date.”
All-in-all, the night was a success and ASB did a fantastic job
at making the 2004 Sadie Hawkins a memorable event for everyone.
