Movie Review: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
by Becky Wu

“I’ve got the golden ticket!” Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp, Freddie Highmore, David Kelly, Helena Bonham Carter, and Deep Roy, is an exciting remake of the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This “sweet” movie directed by Tim Burton tells a story about a young boy from an impoverished family who won a gold ticket to tour the most amazing chocolate factory in the world.
The owner of this phenomenal factory is Willy Wonka, an unusual and quirky man. He put 5 golden tickets within the different chocolate bars that were shipped to various places in the world. The 5 lucky children who win the ticket will have a chance to tour the Wonka factory. Charlie along with the four lucky winners toured the factory. Among the 5 kids, Charlie was the only one who was not spoiled and maintained good behavior. The rest of the children misbehaved and eventually received consequences for their misdemeanor.
The movie was appealing due to the acting skills of Johnny Depp and the casts, the extraordinary special effects, and the wonderful story plots. It is an excellent movie to watch with family or friends. Numerous humor and lines were used in the movie to bring great laughs. Senior Stephanie Neil said, “I loved it! I thought it was awesome!” Junior Alan Lee said, “It was weird, but good.”
So students, go to the nearest theater or Blockbuster. You don’t want to miss out on this delicious movie! Don’t forget to watch the movie with some sweet chocolate treats, or you’ll be craving chocolate big time after the movie.
