Gathering of the Unashamed
This concert brought teenagers from all over the Bay Area to worship God.
by Brittany Brinkman

On the night of September 21 a large group of youth and adults gathered together to worship God. The Gathering of the Unashamed is a worship concert that brings Christians together to stand unashamed before God and the community. This year The Gathering of the Unashamed took place in San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco, Foster City, and Fremont. This concert brought teenagers from all over the Bay Area to worship God.
The event in San Jose took place at Cesar Chavez Park. The concert began at 6:30 p.m. with artist and worship leader, Will Derryberry. His amazing leadership in worship inspired all students and adults to praise God and sing from their hearts. The worship continued with a band, which included men and women from a variety of churches. The entire crowd was on their feet worshipping and praising God. The presence of Christ could truly be felt throughout the park.
After a time of singing, special guest speaker, Joel Johnson from Teen Mania preached to the entire park. His sermon included stunning statistics, applicable verses, and inspirational challenges. Johnson’s amazing presentation had students checking their faith and seeing how they could expand God’s kingdom through prayer.
Many students from Valley Christian attended this incredible event. Some came from their youth groups and worshipped with their friends. The Prayer Evangelism class, with teacher Ms. Vivian Pipkin, met at the LightRail and when they reached the park they praised the Lord together. Other students just came to experience God’s existence and presence at the concert.
This event was extremely successful. The Gathering of the Unashamed was truly blessed by God and the many people at the park felt a burden for their community. Prayer and worship truly reaches God and this event gave Christians new confidence.

Coming prepared, all the students had some sort of diversion from the drive; the neon glow of iPods, cell phones, and even a Pokémon gameboy, poured out of people's seats and into the aisle.

Two monster storms, aptly called 100 year storms, savaged the Gulf Coast last month. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita swept in from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. As winds began to blow, reporters gave horrific forecasts of what was to come. Hurricane Katrina, a category 4 (intensity level out of 5), devastated much of the United States along the Gulf Coast.

Warriors of the Waves
The start of the new season for the Warriors Varsity Water Polo team has actually been going strong since the beginning of summer. An intense training regiment filled early mornings and late evenings with long hours practicing the fundamentals and conditioning. All this work helped the Water Polo team prepare for another grueling schedule in the West Catholic League. Senior Andrew Kikuta and Junior Jonathan Langdon are this year's team captains.
