Review: Mariah Carey
by Kristin Chulick and Maricela Galaviz
Mariah Carey’s CD “The Emancipation of Mimi” hit the record stores
on April 12 of this year. Her high ranging voice, alluring lyrics,
and sound that makes everyone want to dance made it one of the most
desired CDs that has come out in 2005.
Mariah Carey’s first song on the CD, “It’s like that,” was the first
song to be played on the radio. The upbeat sound made the song undeniably
popular. Then almost immediately after that song was heard blazing
on the radio, “We Belong Together” came out, and hit the charts at
number one. Her profound ability in moving up and down the vocal scale
attracted people of all ages. Her song “Shake it off’ was the next
big hit she produced from her CD “The Emancipation of Mimi.” The song
is in rotation for many radio stations.
“The Emancipation of Mimi” has a good blend of upbeat and low-key
songs. Mariah proves she still has the talent and drive to make an
undeniably amazing record. Senior Selena Ma said
“Her years of experience are reflected through her CD. She knows what
people like and she it gives it to them. Mariah Carey’s new CD is
great.

Coming prepared, all the students had some sort of diversion from
the drive; the neon glow of iPods, cell phones, and even a Pokémon
gameboy, poured out of people's seats and into the aisle.

forecasts of what was to come. Hurricane Katrina, a category 4 (intensity
level out of 5), devastated much of the United States along the Gulf
Coast.

Warriors of the Waves

helped the Water Polo team prepare for another grueling schedule in
the West Catholic League. Senior Andrew Kikuta and
Junior Jonathan Langdon are this year's team captains.
