Making
Time for God
by Courtney Zane
How often do you make time for God? Is there time during your day
to spend with Him? Students at Valley Christian are just as busy,
if not busier, than most adults. With an average of seven classes
(AP and Honors most likely included), sports practices and games,
and hours of homework on top of all that, there is not a lot of time
for anything else. Though it seems nearly impossible, we do still
manage to find time to talk on the phone, spend countless hours on
the computer, and be with our friends. So what do students do with
their free time? Good question. We have no free time.
So how can there be time for God? Playing sports, getting homework
done, and maintaining relationships with friends are very important.
But God is more important, which is why, students should figure out
a way to make time for God. He doesn’t ask us to devote every second
to Him, but He does want to have a relationship with us. A few minutes
of our day just reading the Bible or praying is a good way to start.
Just as doing homework or going to practice is important to us, so
should be spending time with the Lord.
Making time with God a habit will only bring us closer to Him. The
things that we love to do every day can wait a few minutes, and those
few minutes with the Lord can only create a stronger relationship
with our Savior.
“That they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after
Him and find Him. Yet He is not far from each one of us.” Acts 17:27

Shakespeare, Where Art
Thou?
For some people, spending eight hours on a bus seems like some new
type of torture. Everyone going on the 11th Annual Oregon Shakespeare
Festival trip, though, saw things a little differently.
Coming prepared, all the students had some sort of diversion from
the drive; the neon glow of iPods, cell phones, and even a Pokémon
gameboy, poured out of people's seats and into the aisle.

Two '100 Year' Storms
Devastate Gulf Coast
Two monster storms, aptly called 100 year storms, savaged the Gulf
Coast last month. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita swept in from the waters
of the Gulf of Mexico. As winds began to blow, reporters gave horrific
forecasts of what was to come. Hurricane Katrina, a category 4 (intensity
level out of 5), devastated much of the United States along the Gulf
Coast.

Warriors of the Waves
The start of the new season for the Warriors Varsity Water Polo team
has actually been going strong since the beginning of summer. An intense
training regiment filled early mornings and late evenings with long
hours practicing the fundamentals and conditioning. All this work
helped the Water Polo team prepare for another grueling schedule in
the West Catholic League. Senior Andrew Kikuta and
Junior Jonathan Langdon are this year's team captains.
