Powder
Puff Football
by Maricela Galaviz

Spirit Week had many fun-filled events planned
by this year’s ASB. One of the most competitive activities that took
place required participation from the girls of each class. On Tuesday,
September 27 and Friday, September 30 students gathered in the football
stadium to enjoy the competitive games of Powder Puff. Tuesday, on
field one, the seniors played the freshmen. Lacey Banks
and Alx Bear each scored a touchdown leading the
seniors to a 12-6 victory. On field two, the juniors played the sophomores.
Junior Chana’e Jones scored two touchdowns leading
her team to a 12-6 victory.
On Friday, after many long intense practices the juniors and seniors
were ready to compete for first place. After a grueling game, Shannon
McFadzean made a tie-breaking touchdown leading the team
to a first place victory. Senior coach Mark Castello
purchased “victory ring pops” for all of the senior girls to celebrate
their championship. On field two, sophomores and freshmen competed
for third place. Sophomores Dahlys Marshall and Bethany
Beck both made two touchdowns finishing the game in their
favor, 24-12.

Coming prepared, all the students had some sort of diversion from
the drive; the neon glow of iPods, cell phones, and even a Pokémon
gameboy, poured out of people's seats and into the aisle.

of the Gulf of Mexico. As winds began to blow, reporters gave horrific
forecasts of what was to come. Hurricane Katrina, a category 4 (intensity
level out of 5), devastated much of the United States along the Gulf
Coast.

Warriors of the Waves
The start of the new season for the Warriors Varsity Water Polo team

helped the Water Polo team prepare for another grueling schedule in
the West Catholic League. Senior Andrew Kikuta and
Junior Jonathan Langdon are this year's team captains.
