Quest for Excellence is the book
that Valley Christian's
Superintendent Dr. Cliff
Daugherty wrote on the
building of the Valley Christian
campus. It mentions how they
built the school, their
motivation and several other
interesting things on the humble
beginnings of Valley Christian.
Even though the book is
finished, they are still adding
to the school every year. When
interviewed, Mrs. Linda
Skovmand, Valley Christian's
Quality Assurance and Public
Relations Head, answered a few
questions about what the new
facilities are and the latest
building projects. "Last year,
one of Valley's big projects was
working on the softball field,"
mentioned Mrs. Skovmand. They
added new dugouts for both the
home team and the away team and
they added new locker rooms as
well. They also added concrete
around the borders for the fans.
This year, however, Valley is
adding a new scene shop outside
the theatre. The scene shop is
going to be a room dedicated
only to building sets for plays.
It is expected to be done at the
end of October or the beginning
of November. They are also
adding a spring fly system in
the theatre, to help lift set
pieces up. Valley is also adding
a classroom below the theatre
deck but they haven't decided
what it's going to be used for
yet. Valley Christian is not
sure what they are going to be
adding to the school next year,
but they are sure they will find
something! The Quest for
Excellence is the book to read
if you're curious about Valley
Christian's humble beginnings.
It mentions several interesting
things that you probably did not
know, like the fact that the
baseball stadium wasn't built
until 2002, even though the
educational buildings and the
pool were opened in 2000.
