The cross country season is underway, and Valley Christian's runners are hard at work preparing for this intense, fun-filled time of year. The season kicked off with the Early Bird Invitational on September 9. This 8 a.m. meet gave both new rummers as well as last year's returning team a chance to prove their dedication to this demanding sport. After meeting at Valley at the outlandishly early hour on saturday morning, the team traveled to Toro Park in Salinas to run the three-mile course.
The runners were faced with the next challenge of the season just one week later at the Twelfth Annual De La Salle meet on September 16. For the second Saturday in a row, the VC cross country team piled into the vans, this time bound for Newhall Park in Concord.
After only two meets, the cross country team has much to look forward to this season. Coaches Johanna Fogeland and Jonathan Lee are excited to hae several new additions to the team, as well as numerous returning runners, including sophomore sensations Jennifer Bergman and Poppy Lawman. Both girls have been working harder than ever in preparation for the upcoming meets, and hope to return to the State Meet this November after the conclusion of the league season.
