This summer the freshmen football players kicked off their season by conditioning and improving their skills. They are now ready to face off against their competition this season with the help of Valley's own Coach Donny Fugate. Many of the boys were participated in a session of strength nand conditioning for six weeks during the summer. During the six weeks, they were equipped with the skills necessary for a football player. Lifting weights, running, and learning basic plays were part of the daily routine of the players. This gave them a strong foundation for the upcoming season.
Starting off the season, the freshmen boys are already giving it their all. Defensive linebacker Justin Holscher injured his arm while giving 100%. His goal for this season is for his arm to heal and to get his spot back on the team. Another player, Greg Freitas, is devoting his time to getting healthy and getting back on the field. His fellow teammate, James Yoder, is striving for excellence in football and in his schoolwork. Running back Luke Moreno desires to improve and win as a team and possibly win the league championship.
Their opening game against Branham blew away fans with an outstanding score of 40 to 18. The game enabled them to work together as a team and pull through in the end. The freshmen's second game against West High proved to the team that winning is not always easy. They battled it out to the end, but fell short with a score of 24-6. The team is dedicated to becoming stronger and more focused.
