For weeks, the junior varsity girls tennis team has been preparing for the upcoming season. Despite the scorching summer heat, the girls meet to practice down at the tennis courts daily. Their dedication is soon to pay off with the upcoming season just around the corner. The J.V. team prides themselves on their strong commitment to the Lord. In order to get a more in depth look at this year’s team, Kristen Raymaker, a sophomore, was interviewed.
Q: What are the team’s goals for this year’s season?
A: “To improve our serving and volleying skills is one of our main goals. Another is to fully dedicate the team to God. We want to grow together as one family rather than teammates.”
Q: How are you and your teammates connecting with the Lord??
A: “Before and after each and every practice the team gathers together in a circle to pray together. We pray that every time we step onto the court we are honoring God’s name. And that He will protect us and allow us to play to the best of our ability.”
Q: How do you foresee this season going?
A: “As a team, we are very strong and have a bright future. Our team is very young, yet filled with potential. Many of the girls on the J.V. team our very advanced, but we all have a lot of room for improvement. We have worked very hard from the beginning of the season, and our practice will definitely be evident as we play our matches.”
Q: What is your motivation for playing tennis this season?
A: “My motivation for playing tennis this season is to improve my athletic ability. I have been playing tennis for several years, and I wanted to play on the school team to meet new people and have fun.”
In conclusion, the J.V. girls tennis team will lead Valley to victory this season. This will be accomplished with their dedication to God.
