This year marks the third year
of Valley Christian's mentoring
program. The program is aimed at
helping incoming freshmen adjust
to high school life. The mentors
consist of juniors and seniors
who devote their time once a
month to meet with their
freshman mentees in connection
groups. There are twelve
executive mentors who organize
events, plan activities, and
provide publicity for the
program. Their first task was to
break up the freshmen into
groups at Fast Track and help
them meet new people and make
new friends.
As the school year started, the
mentors got ready to meet their
new freshmen on August 31 and
September 1. In their connection
groups, each mentor got a chance
to introduce him or herself and
play fun activities. The
freshman mentors meet the first
week of the month and will
continue to until February of
next year. Executive mentor,
senior Aaron Grayson
commented, "As mentors, we all
enjoy the opportunity to make a
difference in at least one
freshman's life."
