On April 6 1990, a group of
teenagers in Burleson, TX
assembled for a prayer among
their peers. That night they
decided to go to three schools
and pray around the campus'
flagpoles for their friends and
fellow students. This was the
start of the annual gathering
across the nation. The theme of
this year's worldwide
See You
At The Pole Event was "Be
Still and Know That I Am God,"
found in
Psalm 46:10.
This worldwide affair included
Valley Christian Schools. On the
27th day September, 2006 nearly
eighty students gathered at the
flagpole for prayer at the
Valley Christian campus. The
Prayer Evangelism classes host
this annual event. In the
morning, starting at seven o'
clock these evangelizing
teenagers and teachers were up
bright and early for prayer.
This powerful event is great
because it brings many different
people with different views who
can all come together for one
reason and that is to pray.
At the flagpole, students began
the morning worship with
inspiring songs, led by Paul
Coney, Devin Rigg,
and Brooke Stroup. After
worshipping, students then
divided in groups. These groups
contained five to twelve people.
Teachers were included. The
topics of prayer were for our
school, public and private
schools, faculty and staff, the
world, national, and state
leaders, personal salvation, and
for peers.
Senior, Tina Sato said,
"I really liked the worship
music and they did a good job. I
was just so happy to pray for
others because it made me think
of the world's problems instead
of just mine." Students and
teachers agree that See You At
The Pole was a successful
turnout, bringing so many people
and the presence of God.
