Is That Special Someone Interested?

by CJ Wrye and Liz Fleming

With Valentine’s Day approaching fast, everyone is looking for that special someone to share the day with, but how do you know if they are truly interested? Girls and guys all over are wondering about their perfect match and how to let them know they exist. No worries! The following is a collection of some of the most typical signs:

Does he like you?
• Persistence.
~He calls you for “homework” more than three times a night
~He watches all your home games…and practices.
~He casually “bumps” into you after every class.
• He laughs at all your jokes, even when they really are not funny.
• He blushes and sweats. You intimidate him.
• He threw away his laser pointer after you told him they promote violence.

Does she like you?
• You can’t get more than three words out, because of her and her friends’ incessant giggling.
• She walks slowly by you at lunch more than two times.
• You suddenly appear in her top 24 on Myspace-right after her BFF.
• She plays with her hair, jewelry, or clothing.
• She repeatedly mentions that it’s freezing outside. (Hint: give her your jacket!)

Congratulations! You now know how to tell that your special someone is interested; now it’s time to make your move! We have compiled an extensive list of classic, telltale flirting tactics.

Girls:
* Give him a nickname. If he likes cars, call him “hotrod.” It will become an inside joke between the two of you.
* Is your man interested in chess? Join the chess team! But be careful; staying too close to him could give him the impression you are a stalker or just plain creepy.
* Make sure you set yourself apart from the crowd. (We suggest something drastic, like orange hair or neon lipstick; which will be sure to start up any conversation!)

Boys:
* ALWAYS compliment her on her incredible fashion sense. You’ve never seen anyone who can pull off overalls and stripes quite like she can.
* Flash her those pearly whites every once in a while! (Remember to check and make sure you don’t have food stuck in your teeth!)
* Write your feelings down on paper. Pass her a quick note in class or write her a poem expressing your undying love for her. If she rejects your attention, she’s probably just not ready to commit to someone so devoted to her.
