When we first decided to write this article we thought it would be a comical outlook on the idea of Valentine’s Day; how the male and female brains work differently and how they see different topics. But when we started interviewing people, we found out so much more. Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day of love. Women mark this day on their calendars for it is a day they look forward to the whole year and a date that is forever remembered. Men, on the other hand, want nothing to do with this day! They despise it and sometimes wish it would be abolished. To explore these differences, we decided to become proactive in the search of what we at Valley Christian really want for Valentine’s Day.
What Girls Want:
- Chocolate candy and those candy hearts seem to be a good idea.
- Roses are definitely the flower of choice.
- For a unique gift, a Build-A-Bear is a good way to show your affection.
-A nice dinner.
- Girls love to be surprised, so any considerate surprise you can think of will surely be a hit!
What Guys Want
- To save as much money as possible.
- For this dreaded day to pass.
-To live through this day, as their life may very well flash before their mind many times throughout the day.
- To watch sports: football if it’s Sunday/Monday, NASCAR if it’s any other day of the week.
- Many guys seem to think that napping is the safest way to pass the day.
-A nice dinner consisting of man food or fast food would be quite swell.
- The best gift would be to get a day off school, due to all the horror and trauma they are sure to face on this tragic day.
- To receive nothing for Valentine’s Day and feel a sense of accomplishment.
- To get sick from eating Valentine’s Day candy.
- Zen Rock Garden
- Some new casual shirts.
- A nice Myspace comment.
The funny thing is that one would think that girls’ “wants” would out weigh the guys’ “wants” for Valentine’s Day. The only conclusion we had on Valentine’s Day is that women are not very particular about what they get. The one thing girls really care about at the end of the day is the thought behind the gift: so, guys, be sure to surprise your lucky lady this Valentine’s Day.
